With the help of friends I have been homeschooling and attending church with for years, we've started a new homeschool co-op this year.
We're calling it The Grove Fellowship.
The echo of Tolkien is deliberate.
The leadership team is called "The High Council" (so nicknamed by one of our high school seniors, but the name has stuck).
We're Christian, Classical, and we've worked together to plan a three-year cycle of classes for elementary, middle, and high school.
This year, I teach Ancient Literature (The Iliad, The Odyssey, and The Aeneid) and the Rhetoric/ Senior Thesis class to the high school students (using Scott Crider's The Office of Assertion). I also co-teach the middle and high schoolers in Mock Trial (using Classical Conversation's Mock Trial Notebook).
Outside of co-op, I coordinate field trips and activities for the group.
The adults, husband and wives, have met for the loveliest dinner out at the start of the school year.
We've taken a trip to The Met.
The photo above was taken at a fall bonfire/ bbq at one member's home.
We have a board game night later this month.
We have a pot luck in December.
When I quit Classical Conversations a few years ago, I thought I'd have to homeschool alone for the rest of our journey, and I was willing to do so.
So this group has been a pleasant surprise and a gift from the Lord.
May this beautiful thing we are establishing become and remain a blessing for many.
