I have a "friend" who believes that I'm foolish for trusting my husband to provide for me. She also thinks I can't be a blessing to him because I'm just a dependent. And, in her mind, my kids just add to that burden...

Minutes after reading something she wrote about women like me, I read this Scripture. It was actually part of my Scripture reading for today:

Blessed are all who fear the LORD,
who walk in obedience to him.

You will eat the fruit of your labor;
blessings and prosperity will be yours.

Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house;

your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.

Yes, this will be the blessing
for the man who fears the LORD.

I believe the Lord had me read this verse (right after I read what she wrote) to remind me of His truth, so that the lies this woman believes wouldn't set a trap and put their hooks into my mind and heart. Our world says a man is blessed one way and that a woman is only truly secure in another way... but God designs blessings for those who fear him. And for those with wisdom enough to see them, the blessings look something like this:

Yes, this will be the blessing
for the man who fears the LORD.

Great revelation Veronica. I'm glad that God has gifted you with the insight and ability to fight what what is yours, and to see that you are blessed. Better to stand up and use our sword rather than hide behind our shield! ;)

Amen, amen. :) I've heard the same kind of comments myself, so I certainly appreciate what you've shared. Thanks!

Beautiful response! We are now expecting our 6th blessing and the world only sees 6 burdens..we see 6 BLESSINGS!

Your friend must be channeling my mother-in-law. She thinks I'm selfish for 'forcing' my husband to provide for us while I homeschool.

Funny- I can force him to let me homeschool, but I can't force him to put his dirty clothes in the laundry basket! :p

Some people have no idea what it means for a husband to safely trust in his wife so he can fully invest himself in his family, his profession and his ministry. He comments on a regular basis that it is a blessing and benefit that he doesn't worry about the kids, or chores getting done, or having a restful place to enjoy after a day's work.
